“I’ve got some news for you, Johnny. I’m going to do exactly what I please, when I please. I was true to one man once… And look what happened.”

I’ve begun adding images of Rita Hayworth in the title role of Charles Vidor’s Gilda (1946), the role that is, without a doubt, Rita’s career defining role… And not only the stand-out role in Rita’s career but also one of the most popular movie characters that any actress has ever played throughout the history of movies! And what a role it is!

I have so many images from Gilda that I thought I’d do a gallery update in parts. Today I added some gorgeous vintage posters (I wish movie posters today were as gorgeous as they used to be!) and photos of Rita on the set of the film.

Enjoy the Gilda goodies!

The gallery has been updated with a handful of photos of Rita Hayworth in the 1930s, back when she was just starting out her career as an actress. These include both candids as well as photoshoot portraits. Here you can see pre-makeover Rita Cansino with her natural dark hair color. I’ve also added photos of Rita with her first husband, Edward C. Judson. Do note that a couple of the photos of Rita and Ed are actually from 1940, not the 30s.

Tonight I’m bringing you movie stills and photoshoots from two Hayworth pictures that were released in 1947: The Lady from Shanghai and Down to Earth, two very different movies that feature Rita at the peak of her beauty. Not everyone loves Rita’s cropped topaz blonde hair in The Lady from Shanghai but I personally have always thought she looks very elegant and iconic in the role of Elsa Bannister.

The gallery has been updated with new production stills and other images from various Rita Hayworth movies, including The Loves of Carmen (1948), Blood and Sand (1941), Music in My Heart (1940) and Angels Over Broadway (1940). Click on the preview below to view all new additions.

First of all, thank you for all of the lovely comments regarding the site! It really means a lot to me that people appreciate my tribute to Rita Hayworth.

Today I’ve updated the gallery with images from one of Rita’s most popular films, the 1944 musical titled Cover Girl. On top of the 2000+ DVD screencaps, you can now also find posters, production stills, photoshoots and on the set images of Rita in the role of showgirl Rusty Parker.
