DeMille on September 11, 1944. The couple had just celebrated their first anniversary! The last clip features a short but never the less interesting interview with them.

I am working on a new feature for the site, one that I am very, very excited about. It will contain information and photos on various locations related to Rita Hayworth’s life and career, such as the places where she lived and worked at. However, because I am located in Europe myself and unable to travel to Los Angeles for the time being, I am looking for contributions especially from Hayworth fans who are located in LA or been fortunate enough to visit Rita related spots around LA and the US in general.

So, if you’ve visited any Rita Hayworth related places, such as her homes, filming locations or studios or simply have details or photos on any such locations, please do not hesitate to get in touch! All contributions are much appreciated and will be credited accordingly.

Rita’s Relationship & Family Photos Revamped

I’ve moved things around the gallery a little bit as I came to the conclusion that it would be easier to navigate if I moved the relationship and family photos in their own categories. The changes have been made and new photos have been uploaded in many of the albums. Rita always looked her happiest when among her family, especially her two daughters, so do brighten up your day by looking at the lovely imagery.

I have updated the gallery with more high quality images from Vincent Sherman’s film noir, Affair in Trinidad (1952), which stars Rita as Chris Emery and her great leading man, Glenn Ford, as Steve Emery.

24th Annual Chicago Rita Hayworth Gala

The 24th annual Rita Hayworth Gala, hosted by The Alzheimer’s Association, is held at the Hilton Chicago in Chicago, Illinois on May 7, 2011. The cocktail reception is at 6:30 pm while dinner and program happen at 8:00 pm. Held annually on Mother’s Day weekend and attracting more than 600 guests, the Chicago Rita Hayworth Gala celebrates and honors medical research in the treatment, prevention, and cure of Alzheimer’s disease, as well as care and support programs for those affected today. The evening includes a cocktail reception, three-course dinner, program, auctions and live music for dancing.

Together, the Rita Hayworth Galas have raised more than $55 million for the mission of the Alzheimer’s Association.

Hop on to the BBC Archive website to listen to a wonderful and rare four minute audio interview with Rita, which was originally broadcast July 14, 1956. She is interviewed during a visit to London about her latest film, Fire Down Below (1957), in which she plays alongside Jack Lemmon and Robert Mitchum. A softspoken Rita talks about her return to the big screen, her role in the movie, her wishes for future parts and sightseeing the city of London. A lovely little gem for all Rita fans!

Regardless, the footage is pretty awesome and features lots of rare clips of classic actors and directors contributing to the war effort.

You’ll Never Get Rich DVD Screencaps

I have uploaded DVD screencaptures of Rita’s role as Sheila Winthrop in the Hayworth-Astaire military musical You’ll Never Get Rich (1941), which marks one of Rita’s very first big hit pictures. While I personally much prefer You Were Never Lovelier from the two films she did with Fred, Rita looks absolutely gorgeous in each frame, already shows a great comedic timing and I just adore her chemistry – and dancing! – with Fred Astaire in You’ll Never Get Rich. It is definitely a must see for any Rita fan!

Show Business at War (1943) on TCM!

Show Business at War is a 17 minutes long short film made in 1943 to tout the United States film industry’s contribution to the war effort. Several studios collaborated on the production and approximately 70 stars, producers, directors and studio executives appeared in it, including none other than Ms. Rita Hayworth.

The rare short will be shown on Turner Classic Movies tonight at 9:00 PM. I really and truly hope that someone will be able to record this and put on YouTube since it is so hard to come by. It would be just lovely to see it!
